Terms and Conditions

1. Who we are, and what you are agreeing to

Just Story It is operated by ETHERIX OÜ, Harju maakond, Tallinn, Kesklinna linnaosa, Ahtri tn 12, 15551, Estonia ("we", "us"). These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Just Story It service on every platform we offer it: the iOS app (Apple App Store), the Android app (Google Play), and the web app at app.juststoryit.net.

By creating an account or using the service on any platform, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Just Story It. The installed mobile apps are additionally licensed to you under our End-User License Agreement; how we handle your data is described in our Privacy Policy. If these Terms and the End-User License Agreement conflict about the service, subscriptions, or payments, these Terms prevail.

2. The service

Just Story It writes short, original stories to your request and reads them aloud. Stories, narration, character dialogue voices, and cover artwork are generated with artificial intelligence based on the choices and text you provide. AI-generated content can be imperfect: a story may contain inaccuracies, oddities, or content that does not match your expectations, and two similar requests may produce similar stories. The service is provided for personal entertainment and is not a source of factual or professional advice.

3. Eligibility and your account

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you allow a child to listen to stories on your account, you are responsible for that use, including the prompts you submit and the content you play for them.

Keep your sign-in credentials secure; you are responsible for activity on your account. Provide accurate account information and keep it up to date.

4. Plans, listening minutes, and the free allowance

Paid plans grant a quota of listening minutes for each monthly billing period. Generating a story consumes minutes from your available balance based on the audio length you request. Your balance is set to your plan's quota at the start of each billing period; unused minutes do not roll over between periods. When a subscription ends, its plan minutes lapse.

The free tier includes a one-time welcome allowance (currently 4 minutes). It is granted once per account and does not renew.

We also offer one-time top-up packs of extra minutes. Top-up minutes are added to your current available balance, are consumed together with plan minutes, and are not a subscription. Plan quotas, features, and pack sizes are shown in the app before you buy and may differ between plans.

5. Billing and automatic renewal

Depending on where you subscribe, your payment is processed by Apple (App Store in-app purchase), Google (Google Play billing), or Stripe (web checkout). We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status across platforms. Prices, currencies, and any applicable taxes are shown at the point of purchase.

Subscriptions renew automatically each month until cancelled. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period already paid for. You can cancel at any time:

  • Apple: device Settings → your Apple account → Subscriptions.
  • Google: Google Play app → your profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
  • Web (Stripe): the Manage subscription option in the app, or email us at [email protected].

If we change a subscription price, the change applies no earlier than your next billing period, and you will be notified in advance in accordance with the rules of your billing platform (which may require your explicit consent).

6. Free trials

Some plans may include a free trial. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the trial converts into a paid subscription and the plan price is charged. Trials are intended to be used once per person; we may withhold trial eligibility to prevent abuse, and we may modify or end trial offers at any time for new sign-ups.

7. Refunds and the right of withdrawal

Refunds are handled by the platform where you purchased:

  • Apple purchases are refunded by Apple under Apple's refund policies (request at reportaproblem.apple.com). We cannot issue refunds for Apple-billed purchases ourselves.
  • Google Play purchases are refunded under Google Play's refund policies, and by us where those policies direct requests to the developer.
  • Web (Stripe) purchases are refunded by us. Contact [email protected].

If you are a consumer in the European Union or United Kingdom, you have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal for online purchases. By starting your subscription or generating stories immediately, you request immediate performance of the service; where the law provides, this reduces the withdrawal refund proportionally to the service already delivered, or ends the withdrawal right for fully delivered digital content. Beyond your statutory rights and the platform policies above, fees are non-refundable. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that consumer law does not allow to be limited.

8. Your content and your stories

Your inputs are yours. You keep all rights in the text you submit — story requests, custom characters, custom places. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to process your inputs solely to operate, provide, and improve the service, including sending them to the AI providers that generate your stories (see the Privacy Policy for who they are).

Your stories are yours to keep. To the extent we hold any rights in the stories, audio, and cover artwork generated for you, we assign and license them to you. You may keep them and use them for personal, non-commercial purposes. Please note the nature of AI generation: similar requests from other users may produce similar output, output may incorporate common story elements, and AI-generated works may have limited or no copyright protection in some jurisdictions. We cannot guarantee exclusivity of generated content.

You are responsible for what you submit. Do not submit content that is unlawful, infringes others' rights, or is intended to generate hateful, sexually explicit, or otherwise harmful material — especially given stories may be played for children.

9. Acceptable use

  • Do not interfere with or disrupt the service, or attempt to access it by any means other than the apps and web app we provide.
  • Do not circumvent listening-minute quotas, plan limits, or other technical restrictions.
  • Do not use automated tools to mass-generate stories, scrape the service, or extract its content.
  • Do not resell, rent, or commercially redistribute the service or generated audio without our written permission.
  • Do not upload or transmit malicious code, and do not use the service to violate any applicable law.

10. Availability and changes to the service

We work to keep Just Story It available, but the service is provided without a guarantee of uninterrupted operation; generation depends on third-party AI providers and may occasionally be slow or unavailable. We may change, add, or remove features. If we make a change that materially reduces what your paid plan includes during a period you have already paid for, we will notify you and, where required, offer a proportionate remedy.

11. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided "as is" and "as available", and we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for claims arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law (including liability for intentional misconduct or gross negligence, and consumers' statutory rights).

12. Termination

You may stop using the service at any time and may delete your account in the app (Profile → Delete account), which permanently deletes your data as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the service; if we terminate without cause during a paid period, we will refund the unused part of that period. Sections 8, 11, 13, and 14 survive termination.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. For material changes we will give notice in the app or by email before the changes take effect. If you continue using the service after the effective date, the updated Terms apply. The "Last updated" date above always reflects the current version.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Estonia. If you are a consumer, you also enjoy the mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts where the law gives you that right. EU consumers may also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform.
